Fundamentals of Self-Defense

After teaching about four dozen Muay Thai Crash Courses, we realized that about half of the people were motivated by wanting to learn self-defense. While knowing basic Muay Thai will certainly improve your self-defense capabilities, it is a highly specialized aspect of unarmed combat. It seems to be human nature to take things that were once practical, generalist and accessible to everyone (be it singing, drawing or fighting) and evolve them in highly focused ways. In the process, high forms of very specialized arts are created with elite practitioners accomplishing unbelievable feats. 


Crash Courses are NOT that! We take you back to simplicity and fundamentals. It’s like if you were going to send your child away to college, you want to teach them some basic adulting: cooking a few meals, doing laundry, taking care of their hygiene and finances and, most importantly, not doing something excessively stupid.  Sure, some kids might end up becoming Michelin-star chefs or investment moguls, but all of them have to start with these baby steps. 


This crash course is a highly structured program intended to teach you some basic “adulting” in terms of unarmed self-defense. We will teach you 100 of the most basic skills and concepts that, if you learn and apply, will put you in a significantly better position in situations of physical conflict. The course entails 15 hour-long sessions and should be completed within 2-3 months.
